Wedding Photography F.A.Q (Frequently Asked Questions)

How long do you stay at the wedding for?

That depends on which package you book. My "normal" coverage is the bridal preparations through to the cake cut. I have options for extended evening coverage.

-----------------------

Can we get a DVD of all the pictures?

Yes you can. You get the final DVD disk with everything on it at high resolution with "Permission to Print" for your storage, safe keeping and you can also print from this disk, upload to Facebook or email these photographs to friends.

-----------------------

Do you visit the wedding locations before the day?

I have photographed at many of Ottawa area venues, if I have not photographed at a location before I will generally arrive early to check out the best locations for your photographs.

-----------------------

Do you carry backup equipment / lighting?

I carry backup equipment for everything I use, including backup cameras, flash equipment and lenses. I also carry umbrellas and towels should the need arise :)

-----------------------

Do you work alone?

Usually I work alone for most of the wedding coverage, however I offer a second photographer in my "Ultimate" package as part of the package or any wedding for additional fee. Second photographer allows me to cover parts of your wedding from two angles and allows one photographer to help arrange groups etc.

-----------------------

What areas do you cover?

I am based on the border of Kanata and Ottawa. This allows me to cover the whole of the Eastern and Central Ottawa region including Nepean, Barrhaven, South Gloucester and Orle'ans. In the last couple of years I have shot in Toronto, Montre'al, Winnipeg and New York City. I will however cover anywhere in the Canada/US or worldwide.

-----------------------

How many pictures do you take?

The number of pictures taken depends on the size of the crowd, the amount of time available and other issues like the weather. Normally for a "standard" wedding you will get around 600 pictures, however I never count the pictures I take so you may have more.

-----------------------

Will you photograph everyone?

Normally I will try and get pictures of everyone at your wedding, if I'm photographing a big group shot I will try to get everyone on it, allowing for people who always disappear at this point :) I will also normally get shots of people mingling during the day. I will ask during our pre-wedding meeting if there is anyone special I need to get photographs of.

-----------------------

How do we book you?

Once you have decided to hire me for your wedding photography please contact me to schedule a meeting, where we can discuss all the details of your wedding day and photography package to fit your needs and budget. I will then give you my standard wedding photography contract and will ask for the booking fee to be paid. On receipt of this your date will be booked into my diary. This booking fee can be paid via Cash, Email transfer or Cheque.

-----------------------

Are you insured?

I carry full public and professional liability insurance.

-----------------------

Do you do more than one wedding a day?

I never shot more than one wedding in a day, I want to be concentrating on getting the best shots of your wedding.

-----------------------

Do you charge travel expenses?

I do not charge mileage expenses within the Ottawa area, further a field travel expenses may be charged, but will be at cost. These charges will be agreed prior to booking so there are no hidden surprises.

-----------------------

How quickly will the pictures be ready?

Your photographs will normally be available online on your password protected gallery within 1 month of your wedding date. The final DVD should be with you within 10 days of the pictures being available online.

-----------------------

Are you member of any professional bodies?

I am members of The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (AG|WPJA) and Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada (PWPC).

-----------------------

When do we pay you?

I take a 20% of the selected wedding package as booking fee to book the day which is payable when you complete my paperwork. The balance is due on wedding day. Additional orders for prints, parents albums, extra DVD’s are payable with order.

-----------------------

Do you photograph the actual ceremony?

This is all dependent on the registrar or priest conducting the ceremony. Some are very good and will work with me to allow me to capture your special moment, some ban photographers from taking pictures inside their churches during any part of the ceremony. (Normally I can get pictures of the signing of the register).
